Today is My First Day as a Melkite

I am no longer Roman/Latin Catholic as of today. I am a Catholic, but not Roman/Latin anymore… I am a Melkite as of today… Greek and Arabic are the languages of my Church, not Latin. Byzantine is the rite of my Church, not Roman. Greek is the heritage of my Church, not Latin. Antioch is the root of my Church, not Rome. The Apostle Peter was the founder of my Church, the same apostle who founded the Church of Rome. Gregory III is my Patriarch and Benedict XVI is my Pope. Archbishop Cyril Bustros is my Archbishop as of today, and Father Ignatius Harrington is my priest. I am no longer under the jurisdiction of the Roman/Latin Church and no longer bound with the canon law of the Roman/Latin Church. East is my home now, not West. Divine Liturgy is the term used for worship now, not Mass, although it’s referring to the same thing pretty much.

This is a journey of faith and God granted my wish and prayer eventually…….after some years thinking and praying…

  1. Congratulatoins. I made teh same journey 25 years ago – have often missed a step, but never looked back and always been comforted in my new home.
    God grant you many years.
